About the Office of Barry Mercer, DDS

The dental team outdoors

We’re ready to help improve your oral health!

Dr. Barry Mercer wants everyone to feel comfortable and taken care of at his practice. In the waiting room, patients can help themselves to water, coffee, and cookies. Each of our examination rooms are stocked with blankets, Tylenol, and sunglasses to block the glare from an exam light. We can also play music to help you relax. You’ll be able to enjoy going to the dentist with our one-on-one care. Please call our office today to schedule an appointment.

Technology

To help our patients better understand what needs to be treated, we can shine an intraoral camera into your mouth to project its image onto a chairside monitor. This technology allows us to show you which parts of your mouth are compromising your oral health. Then, we can suggest procedures to address your individual needs. We enjoy using the intraoral camera to facilitate communication with our patients and to give them the opportunity to ask about their treatments.

For basic imaging needs, our office uses digital X-rays. This technology reduces patients’ exposure to radiation by 90%. Dr. Mercer and our team make your health a priority in everything we do.

For patients with minor cavities or other restoration work, Dr. Mercer can use air abrasion instead of a dental drill. This technology makes it possible for him to simply spray out decay instead of using more invasive and outdated methods. Air abrasion preserves more healthy parts of the tooth in complete comfort, so you can relax as you experience our dental care.

Oral cancer is a very prevalent disease in today’s world, and it is extremely dangerous. With VELscope, our team can identify cancerous or precancerous tissues in your mouth simply by shining a light on your cheeks, gums, and tongue. If there is anything worrisome, we can swiftly take action. This equipment is extremely helpful when it comes to catching signs of cancer before it becomes advanced.
