Crown & Bridge Therapy in Loomis

Replace Your Missing Teeth with Dental Crowns & Bridges

Model of smile with fixed bridge restorationDental crowns are used to repair teeth following advanced decay or damage. Crafted from a variety of high quality materials include metal-free ceramics, dental crowns are placed completely over the top of the tooth, correcting damage and restoring lost structure and function. The treatment process is typically completed in two visits to our office. During the initial appointment, the tooth is prepared, the crown is designed, and a temporary is placed. We send our design to the lab where your custom crown is crafted. Once we receive this final restoration, you’ll return for your second appointment to exchange the temporary for the custom crown.

Fixed bridges can substitute teeth if you’ve lost as many as three in a row. If the remaining teeth that lie on either side of the space are strong enough to support a crown, we will be able to fasten a dental bridge. A dental bridge is a permanent way to replace your missing teeth, and it’s created to appear natural. Bridges are constructed in dental labs, so Dr. Mercer will take accurate and detailed notes about the size, shape, and coloring of your other teeth during your consultation appointment to send to the makers. This way, the bridge will be customized for you, which means it matches your existing teeth and gives you a reason to smile!

Once a dental bridge is placed, it will prevent your overall bite from changing, thus preserving your oral health. When teeth are lost, other teeth along the gums begin to shift inward to close the gap. Once you get a dental bridge, it creates a barrier to retain the proper position of your teeth.

If you had considered receiving teeth whitening, please arrange to have this procedure done before you’re seen for your restoration consultation. This way, we’ll be able to match your dental restorations to the new, bright shade of your teeth.
